How to join Dell Children’s Health Plan

If your children already have CHIP or STAR Medicaid with another health plan, you can switch to superior service with Dell Children’s Health Plan at any time. Just call the CHIP/STAR Medicaid Helpline at 1-800-964-2777 and tell them you want to switch to Dell Children’s Health Plan.

To become a member of Dell Children’s Health Plan, you must first apply and qualify for CHIP or STAR Medicaid. If you need to apply for CHIP or STAR Medicaid, you can apply online at YourTexasBenefits.com, by calling 2-1-1, option 2, or by printing and mailing your application.

Who can join Dell Children’s Health Plan?

We serve CHIP and STAR Medicaid-eligible individuals, including newborns up to age 20, and pregnant or new moms who live in these Central Texas counties:

  • Bastrop
  • Burnet
  • Caldwell
  • Fayette
  • Hays
  • Lee
  • Travis
  • Williamson

To qualify for CHIP or STAR Medicaid, a child must be:

  • Age 18 or younger. Children up to age 20 can qualify for Medicaid in some cases.
  • A Texas resident.
  • A U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. The parent’s immigration status does not matter.

*For pregnant women to qualify, they must be unable to get Medicaid and not have any other health coverage.

Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and STAR Medicaid eligibility is determined by how much the parents make, along with a few other factors. Check the income chart below to see if your children may qualify for one of these programs.
