Provider search

Make sure you choose a Primary Care Provider (PCP) who accepts Dell Children’s Health Plan CHIP or STAR. Click on Find a Doctor or download a provider directory from the list below. Call Member Services at 1-855-921-6284 (TTY 7-1-1) to have a provider directory mailed to you at no cost. Member Services is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays. Calls received from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. will be directed to voicemail.

You should always be able to reach your primary care provider 24 hours a day seven days a week by calling your provider’s office number. If the office is closed, you may be sent to an answering service. They will know how to reach the provider or ask you to leave a phone number so the provider can call you back.

Dell Children’s Health Plan also offers a 24-hour Nurse HelpLine. You can reach them at 1-855-712-6700 (TTY 7-1-1).

Remember that you can change your provider at any time. Call Dell Children’s Health Plan Member Services at 1-855-921-6284 (TTY 7-1-1) to make the change. Member Services can tell you when you can go to your new provider.

You may not get to change your provider if:

  • The new provider is not in the Dell Children’s Health Plan network, or
  • The new provider is not taking new patients

Referrals to specialists

Sometimes your provider will need you to see a specialist or another provider for care or services he or she can’t provide. This is called a referral. Your provider may also need us to approve certain services before you get them. This is called prior authorization.

You can get OB-GYN, family planning and behavioral health services without a referral from your provider. This is called self-referral. To get these services, make an appointment with a provider in our network. You can find a list of providers using the Find a Doctor search tool.
