How to join Dell Children’s Health Plan
STAR Medicaid provides health care to children, pregnant women and families.
Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) is a health care program for children whose families do not qualify for Medicaid.
To start or check the status of your application:
- Go to YourTexasBenefits.com and create an account
- Download the Your Texas Benefits mobile app, to apply for STAR or CHIP
- Or call 2-1-1 to start your application
Once you are approved for STAR or CHIP, you will receive your enrollment packet.
Information on how to choose Dell Children’s Health Plan will be included in the enrollment packet or you can call the STAR/CHIP Helpline at 1-800-964-2777.
If you already have STAR or CHIP, you can change your health plan at any time. Just call the STAR/CHIP Helpline at 1-800-964-2777 and tell them you want to become a member of Dell Children’s Health Plan.
Do I qualify? How much do I have to earn to qualify for STAR or CHIP?
- Find your family size on the left side of this chart. Follow that row to the right.
- Is your family’s income less than the monthly income shown in the blue column? If so, your children might get STAR.
- If your income is higher, follow the purple column. Your children might get CHIP if your income is less than the monthly income shown in the purple column. Children of families that earn higher incomes may also qualify in some cases.
*Income is money you get paid before taxes are taken out.
**A family of one might be a child who does not live with a parent or other relative.
NOTE: These income levels are set by the federal government and are adjusted every year, effective April 1.
