Annual checkups are important and birthdays are a good time to remember to schedule a checkup.
Your child needs to be seen at these ages:
Birth to 1 year.
Babies need checkup when they are:
- 3-5 days old
- 2 months old
- 6 months old
- 1-2 weeks old
- 4 months old
- 9 months old
Doctors make sure babies are healthy and growing as they should. Dental checkups start when your baby is 6 months old. The dentist or doctor might put fluoride on your child’s teeth as part of a dental or medical checkup.
1 to 2 1/2 years.
Children in this age group need medical checkups when they are:
- 12 months old
- 18 months old
- 2 1/2 years old
- 15 months old
- 2 years old
Dell Children’s Health Plan offers rewards for members who get their Texas Health Steps checkups or well child checkups on time!*
- $120 for completing six Texas Health Steps or well-child checkups, for children ages 0-15 months
- $50 when your child completes timely checkups at 18, 24 and 30 months.
- $50 reward for Dell Children’s Health Plan members age 9 through 13 who get the full series of the Immunizations for Adolescents.This includes the full series of HPV vaccine, one dose of meningococcal vaccine and one Tdap vaccine.
- $25 reward for women who receive a chlamydia screening by age 24. STAR only.
- Dell Children’s Health Plan members 3 years and older can earn a $25 reward for getting a flu shot.
- $75 reward for members who complete 5 of the Combo 10 vaccines. An additional $125 reward for members who complete all of the Combo 10 vaccines by 24 months of age.

If your child has a serious medical need and the doctor’s office is closed, call your doctor. An answering system may take your call and someone will advise you on what to do next. You can also visit an urgent care center or after-hours facility. You can always call our 24-hour Nurse HelpLine at 1-855-712-6700. Our nurses are ready to help you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
